Like anyone actually cares…

Your host, Graham KiddHi - I’m Graham Kidd, and I live in Llanfairfechan in the County Borough of Conwy, North Wales.

Born in Liverpool in 1953, I’m a fully fledged Baby Boomer, although my nappy is getting a little tight these days. I’m also a lifelong Liverpool FC fan.

I’m an ex-public servant (semi-retired), for my sins, but not yet a serious burden on the state.

I’ve only ever worked in IT since I left school in 1972, and so after all these years in one trade, I’m useless for anything else.

I have one wonderful son, who has completed his MA in History With International Relations at Keele University. I was widowed in 2007, but was then lucky enough to meet S. in 2008, whose life-tracks having converged with mine, now seem to be running in parallel.

The rest is on a “need to know” basis, and trust me, you don’t need to know.

(I suppose, if you really wanted to contact me, you could, by clicking here… )

The kind of person I think I am:

  • I completely lack physical co-ordination, rendering any form of self-expression impossible for me, especially music and dancing. The former bothers me immensely, the latter not at all. It also makes DIY consistently unsuccessful and occasionally dangerous.
  • I’m fairly thick-skinned - you can say whatever you like to me, and I won’t hold it against you, as long as you are sincere about it. I can’t bear insincerity.
  • I have a fairly well honed sense of the ridiculous, which is just as well, as I can be one of the most ridiculous things on two legs. (See dancing, above…)
  • I don’t believe in Father Christmas or the tooth fairy, so it may come as no surprise that I’m also a devout atheist.
  • I have great faith in human nature, but it is sometimes shaken, occasionally violently. I want to see the good side of people, however it manifests itself.
  • I’m pretty lazy, if given the opportunity. No - make that very lazy…
  • I have no fashion sense whatsoever. but - so what?
  • I love food - almost anything, except sea-food and offal. Eating out is one of life’s great pleasures. Cooking can also be fun, but I wouldn’t want the responsibility of feeding a family daily. Nosirree.
  • I love good wine, beer, and Baileys, but hate getting drunk.
  • I love good music of many different kinds, especially live performances, but don’t like opera, most jazz, dance or rap. I like hearing new stuff that confirms my belief that good new music is being produced all the time. I have my favourites from my youth, but I’m not stuck in a time warp.
  • I’m completely non-violent, but I’d kill for my family, especially my son. I’d willingly die for him, too, if necessary.
  • I love travelling, and there are still so many places that I want to go before I go toes up. None of them involves a beach.
  • I am unable to swim within the accepted meaning of the word. Water is not my favoured environment.
  • I hate the British winter, the British transport networks (third world), and the British characteristic of accepting being shafted by everyone who wants our money. Otherwise, most British things are better than we give ourselves credit for. We’re too self-effacing for our own good.
  • The celebrity culture pisses me off. Sorry, but it just does. Can somebody tell me what a Kerry Katona is for, exactly? Or a Katie Price / Peter Andre? Hmmm?
  • I’m not a fan of soap operas - or even television, really. Hardly ever even switch the thing on.
  • My memory is increasingly unreliable.
  • I love gadgets - like most blokes, I guess, but am not fascinated at all with mobile phones. I have one, but it’s about as basic a pay-as-you-go job as there is.
  • My least favourite body part (own…) - my feet.
  • My most favourite body part (own…) - not telling.
  • My most appealing characteristic (possibly not shared by others) - I think I’m fairly generous… Usually first to the bar, etc.
  • My least appealing characteristic - hmmmm - you tell me…
  • I can procrastinate to Olympic standards.
  • I have no artistic talent at all - my sister inherited the family’s arty gene, although I do think I have a reasonable eye for a half-decent photograph. You can look here to see if you agree.
  • and, um, that’s about it, really.

I’ve linked to Connah on my sidebar and will add a short paragraph to it tomorrow. It looks like the Belgian Bloggers have really taken him to our hearts. Aren’t we lovely ?

Lovely doesn’t begin to describe it.

Thank you very much Zoe - your blog being the centre of the blogging universe that it is, I’m sure it will help enormously.
