Just DO it - for Connah! #1

April 20th, 2007 by gddik

Connah Broom, with his grandparents Debbie and Jim

I don’t normally do begging, but in this case, I’m happy to.

The little boy in the picture is called Connah Broom. Connah is 5 years old, and lives with his Dad, Chris, and his granparents Debbie and Jim, at Gronant here in North Wales.

Connah is suffering from a rare form of cancer called neuroblastoma, which only affects about 80 people a year in the UK, with a survival rate of 1 in 5. For a liitle chap who’s so ill, he’s full of life, but his prospects aren’t good unless he gets special treatment only available in the USA. He’s been undergoing treatment here in the UK, but with only limited success.

Debbie and Jim play a big part in his life, and are determined to getting him the treatment he needs to stand a chance. Trouble is, it’s likely to cost about £600,000.

Yes, that’s right - six-hundred-thousand-pounds.

They are so determined that they are prepared to sell their house to raise the money. It’s an incredbly selfless thing to do, but what a tragedy that would be.

Why not send them a few quid to help them out? For the price of a couple of beers, or a magazine, you could be directly helping people who really need and deserve it. It could make all the difference.

You can donate online via PayPal, at his web site…

I can’t think of a more deserving cause, can you?

So - go on then - just do it. (Please tell me about it if you do - it would just be nice to know…)

We should keep silent about our good deeds, what counts is to do them as often as possible. I mean every day…

Connah has a lovely smile. I truly hope to see him every year on your blog, in front of yet another Christmas tree.

  2. gddik Says:

Thank you Minky - In general, I’d agree. What I hope is, that by word about Connah spreading, more people will respond, with a good deed of their own.

Would you consider putting a mention on your own esteemed blog? That would be brilliant - it worked wonders for the “Shaggy Blog Stories” book…

    Thanks again.

Here’s my favourite rugby player (I must turn in now but links will appear on my sidebar in the very near future).

My ‘esteemed’ blog doesn’t have thousands of readers but the few friends who will meet Connah will show him they actually care too.

  4. gddik Says:

Minky - thank you so much - that’s more than I could have asked for. That kind of gesture helps to maintain my faith in humanity.

I’ll be asking other prominent bloggers to to the same, but you are the first.

  5. Spanish Goth Says:

    On the case goodick

Not sure how much help I can be, but one’s more than none right?! - binary mathematics
