When technologies combine…

… the results can sometimes be surprising.

I have previously entertained you  on this site with tales of my derring-do exploits with cross trainers and iPods, and predicted that the former would soon fall into disuse.

Not a bit of it, I’m happy to report. It did at first seem that the predicted obsolescence would come to pass, but since the (eventual) completion of the digitisation of my music collection, which took what seemed like millennia to achieve, I have taken to the task with gusto, engaging in daily sessions of masochistic exercise.

I am now able to spend anything up to 45 consecutive minutes flailing around on the contraption (the cross trainer, not the iPod, silly) without serious risk of heart failure, shedding up to 400 calories in the process. Before I had the benefit of iPod entertainment, I was never so inspired, and barely reached 100 calories. What a wimp.

It’s obviously doing me some good, as I’m much less knackered after each session than I was before, and am able to up the time and calorie count seemingly each time.

Not only that, but about half a stone of me seems to have disappeared into thin air in the process.  Not bad for the Christmas period, I’m sure you’ll agree. If I can keep it going, I’ll soon dissolve into a runny pool on the garage floor. Unpleasant for whoever has to mop me up, but it will be a triumph, of sorts, I’m sure you’ll agree.
