Buy a house, anyone???
gddik
We moved house last August, and although our new place is wonderful (now that all the work has been done) we’re getting a little dis-spirited by our old house’s failure to sell.
We’ve had a fair amount of interest, with regular viewings, and everyone says what a lovely house it is, and that we’ll have no trouble selling it. Trouble is, it just isn’t happening.
Most of the viewers that we’ve had are just putting their houses onto the market and aren’t in a position to buy. We’ve had an offer from one couple - full price, even - but they hadn’t sold their house, and we’ve just learned that they’ve split up and withdrawn their offer.
Not that the estate agent actually bothered to tell us, or anything. Nor did they tell us that the people who were due to view the house last Saturday morning had cancelled the appointment several days before. Another morning wasted - thanks.
Having experienced several of these charlatans now, over a period of years, I’m fully of the opinion that they are, collectively, one of the most clueless bunches of moneygrabbers I’ve ever come across*. When you see what they don’t do for their money (when it’s blindingly obvious what they could actually be doing to sell your house), it’s mind-boggling.
Still, that’s the UK for you, isn’t it?
* Actually, that’s not universally true - we have a dual agency, and one of the agents - a small, local concern - is outperforming the other one by some distance.
