The deed is done

Jesus, that was tough.

We took Snowy to the vet at 6.15pm, and it was all over for him in a matter of seconds - very peaceful. He just departed. It felt very strange, because he didn’t close his eyes when he died (they don’t, so the vet told us), so it was as if he was still there, his black eyes just gazing back at us. At least he had a good day - he was indulged with all the tasty titbits that he wanted, and had chicken and sausage for his last meal, just before we left. Lots of our time and affection.

The vet and nurse were very kind, and gave us as much time as we wanted to say our goodbyes. All three of us cried buckets - the people in the waiting room must have thought we were a right bunch of wimps.

It’ll take some time to get used to not having him around - getting under our feet, biting my nose in the morning, and all the other little things that irritated us, but we loved him for. He was a real character - well known around Llanfairfechan - and we’ll really miss him.

Goodbye, old friend.
