What the eye can’t see…

Now, glaucoma’s no laughing matter, but Jesus on a bike, there’s plenty to laugh at on the Association of International Glaucoma Societies’ web site. Hats off to them for injecting humour - deliberately or not - where none seems likely.
It is, without a shadow of doubt, the funniest piece of web design I’ve seen for quite some time. Thing is, I don’t really think it’s intended to be. Quite what the designer was thinking, I don’t know. Whatever he’s on, give me some. Why the people who commissioned the site accepted it defeats me. I would love to have been at the presentation, when the design was unveiled…
The little bobbing heads in the top left-hand corner are somewhat Pythonesque. The downloadable Glaucoma Hymn that forms the centre-piece of the home page is truly incredible in its grotesqueness, but the 232 “photo’s” (their spurious apostrophe, not mine) of the 2005 Imperial Viennese Glaucoma Ball are something else.
These dudes know how to party, and no expense was spared, by the looks of it. Go to page 17, and you even get some soft porn! (Semi-nude ladies and gentleman, who I presume (hope!) were dancers or models, or some such).
It’s just a pity that the people on whose behalf they work so hard probably can’t see all the jollity. I bet they’d be so impressed.
