Acoustic Festival of Britain 2014

Fifty Shades Of Graham Acoustic Festival of Britain 2014
Acoustic Festival of Britain 2014, Uttoxeter

These shots are from my third visit to this lovely little festival, held each year at Uttoxeter Racecourse in Staffordshire. It seemed a little smaller this year – hopefully, it will survive in the very competitive festival arena. It’s a very friendly and relaxed festival. The weather wasn’t great to start with – some Glastonbury-esque mud on the first day, which gradually dried out as the festival progressed and the sun shone more regularly.

Festivals like this are good for discovering new artists that you’ve never encountered before, as well as seeing well-established artists. This year yielded Jon Gomm and Chris Woods as very talented percussive guitarists. The Counterfeit Stones have been around for ages, but I’d never seen them before. They’re very entertaining – not to be taken too seriously, but their music is a faithful rendition of the Stones’ classics. Australian thrash-blues guitarist Gwyn Ashton was great fun, too.
